Color coding nodes and edges
  • John March 2011
    Hi everyone,

    is there a way in BiologicalNetworks to give colors
    to different types of nodes (genes, proteins) and edges (interactions)? This should be based on several attributes.

    For example in my network I need:

    - red proteins
    - blue genes
    - green protein-protein interactions
    - black protein-DNA interactions

    Thank you!

    Hi John,

    in the Nodes/Edges properties panel (usually on the right side) there is a "Visual Properties" panel where you can tune visual properties on the sets of genes and edges.

    This used in combination with Right Click Mouse on the Network and then:
    Selection->
    - Select all Nodes
    - Select By Type-> Gene, Protein, mRNA, Metabolite, Transcription Factor, Reaction
    - Select all Edges
    - Select By Property Range-> Binding, Co-expression, Co-citation

    enables you to color code any combination and types of nodes and edges.

    Please let us know if you have problems with using these features.

    Thanks.
